What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is one of the NDIS packages that people with a disability or high needs can access to live independently or with a group of people. SIL has the option of either living alone, or with other people with a disability, where you can receive support every day for tasks. Accommodation is supported by staff members who may drop in, or are onsite for emergencies, or have someone available 24/7.
Who manages and works in SIL?
A Warm Care has experienced and trained staff members, all of whom are required to complete our mandatory training, and are experienced in assisting our clients with their individual needs.
We can support you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How can I pay the costs of SIL?
SIL is funded for eligible people by the NDIS scheme. The package can be accessed as NDIS individual package (core supports), NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL), Government funding (prior to NDIS), and Private Insurance, also Government insurance scheme (example NIIS)
What is NDIS?
The NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.It is an Australian government initiative that provides funding directly to people with a permanent and significant disability so they can access the supports and services they need.
Who is eligible?
Age: You must be aged under 65 when you first apply. Residency: You must live in Australia and be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa. Disability: You must have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities (like communication, mobility, or self-care).
